Planning Calendar

Visual calendar for planning releases, viewing freeze periods, and managing events

Calendar Overview

The Planning Calendar provides a visual overview of all planned releases, active freeze windows, and custom events. It's available to all users from the sidebar.

What the Calendar Shows

Releases — Each release appears on its planned date, color-coded by status (Draft, Planned, Approved, etc.)
Freeze Windows — Frozen dates are highlighted with a distinct background. Hover to see the freeze window name and reason.
Custom Events — Admins can add custom events (e.g., "Sprint Review", "Board Meeting") to help teams plan around important dates.

Interacting with the Calendar

Clicking a Date

Click any date to see all releases planned for that day in a list panel on the right side. Click a release to open its detail popup.

Creating a Release from Calendar

Click a date and then click "Create Release" in the release list panel. The planned date is automatically pre-filled with the selected date.

Planning with Freeze Awareness

When selecting a date that falls within a freeze window, the calendar shows a warning. You'll need to provide an exception reason or choose a different date.

Dashboard Calendar

The Leadership Dashboard also includes a calendar widget. Clicking a date on the dashboard calendar filters the release list to show releases for that specific day.

Tip Use the calendar to identify scheduling conflicts before they happen. If multiple teams are planning releases on the same date, consider staggering them to reduce deployment risk.
